Philippine Ageing Population to rise in 2030
I can not as of now imagine how many elderly people in the Philippines will suffer in as little as 10 years for having not enough pension when they retire. In 2030, Philippines is predicted to have 14% of its population to be over 60 years old. Details here.
This means these people are have less ability to work, create a business or pay for their health bills. Currently, 2019 data shows that about 8% of the Philippine population 104.9 Million people, that is 8.3 Million people are over 60 years old.
Data from this report shows that about 25% of Filipinos in the older bracket of the ageing population suffer from depression, particularly women.
The Filipino elderly population would have a family to stay with as custom. One of their children will usually take them in their homes. They will, with their every strength left, pay back by taking care of their grandchildren. The extended family members are live within one single family home, not without its pressures.
The supporting family members need to have knowledge to take care of their elderly's physical, emotional and mental well-being. This by no means is an easy task.
