About Me
I dedicate this blog to our elderly. I'm a business owner and a student forever; and I have chosen Elderly Care in 3 countries: Australia, NZ, and the Philippines, as a blogging initiative. There is considerable neglect of the welfare and well-being of the elderly in society.
This blog is for the younger generations. I'd like to ignite a movement and a motivation for the younger people to actively include the care and welfare of our elderly in public policy, in business and in society.
I write what I learn on this blog... as I go, I hope you can help me. Hopefully, you will find value in my content. Each of us has so many heart warming stories about our parents. I would love to hear yours. Please comment and send me your insights or let me know if you'd like to contribute on this blog.

You may wonder what inspired the blog name Baba Jiji. Well, my family is spread all over the world. My Japanese nephews lovingly call their grandmas Baba and grandpas Jiji. I thought I could use these words... but technically, grandpa and grandma would be more SEO keyword-friendly, also for this reason, these words are usually not available as a main or sub domain.
My parents are models of hard work and perseverance. They have just recently received their senior citizen cards that give them a good discount when eating out or going on tours. I saw them literally turn trash into treasure and convert dump sites into lush tropical gardens. My parents did not pressure me and my brothers to get married, to take up a particular job, to stay in one place or to get good grades. When I was younger, I would wonder why I didn't have a "strict parents story".
When I was around 7 years old, my dad took me for a bike ride on an isolated dirt road near the rice fields which was about 2 kilometers from our house. Still learning how to balance, I fell on my bike and scratched my face and knees. There was a bit of blood but dad implied to shrug it off as we have a few more kilometers to go. Mind over matter he would say. A couple of hours later, we went back home to the shock of my mother. I got rid of the face scar but I carry the knee scar to this day. It's a reminder - mind over matter. My dad taught me to always read Reader's digest magazine - Quotable Quotes, Laughter is the Best Medicine were my favourite sections. This is possibly where I got my sense of humour.
I remember summers when I would collect magazines and newspapers and create cut outs. My mom and I would create collages, wall art, etc. I loved that more than any other toy I was given. Growing up, we were never wealthy but I never felt poor. My mother learned to cook amazing dishes and told me many stories. Scrabble and chess were our past times on many nights without power. She is an amazing singer, too and has a vibrant, funny and cool personality. I love hiding behind doors, pranking and making her scream funny words.
